BUFFALO, N.Y. - Free breakfast seminars on how to start a business are being offered by the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership in the University at Buffalo School of Management.
To be moderated by School of Management Dean Lewis Mandell, the breakfast series will be open to the public and will feature presentations by a panel of experts who will discuss the strategies and resources needed for the successful launch of a business.
"We're delighted to offer this series as a public service to aspiring business owners throughout Western New York," said Mandell. "Volunteers from all sectors of the business community are donating their time and expertise in an effort to demystify the process of starting a business."
The series will begin on April 12 with an open forum on "How to Start a Business: Questions, Answers and Discussions."
Panelists for the session will include John McGowan, director of business incubation, Western New York Technology Development Center; Marvin Madison, senior vice president, Key Bank; Douglas Knox; manager of small business and ownership transitional services, Empire State Economic Development Corporation; Karen Oczek, business assistance specialist, Internal Revenue Service; Gerry Murak, partner, Murak and Associates, LLC, and Scott Friedman, attorney, Lippes, Silverstein, Mathias & Wexler, LLP.
Topics for the remaining sessions include "Is a Business Plan Necessary to Start a Business?" on May 19, "Where to Get Financing to Start a Business" on June 15 and "What Services are Available in the Community to Start a Business?" on Sep. 16.
All sessions will be held from 8-10:30 a.m. in Room 106 of the Jacobs Management Center on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. For more information, contact the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at 645-3000.
