Management Students Receive Commencement Awards

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fifteen UB students received awards for excellence in their fields of study during the recent commencement ceremony for the UB School of Management.

They are:

• Cherif Y. Sleiman of Amherst, the Dean's Award, presented to the MBA student compiling the highest grade-point average

• Mark V. Wagner of Orchard Park, the Dean's Award

• Christopher J. Carlson of Jamestown, Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, awarded to the full-time undergraduate student who compiles the highest management grade-point average of all eligible graduating students

• Abigail B. Maines of Waterport, Charles H. Diefendorf Award in Finance, given to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the finance discipline

• Robert J. McNeill of Lockport, Sidney N. Kahn Memorial Award, presented to the MBA student who has made the greatest contribution to the field of sales and marketing

• Renyi Chung of Amherst, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of finance, presented to the undergraduate or MBA student who, in the judgment of the Faculty Advisory Committee on Internships, has performed in an outstanding manner in every dimension of his or her internship

• Peter Dizdar of Plainview, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of general management

• Lany L. Brunner of Clarence Center, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of human resources

• Amie J. Geiss of Baldwinsville, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of internal audit. Geiss also received a University at Buffalo Accounting Association Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to senior accounting students who, in the opinion of the membership of the association, have contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, the association itself, fellow students and to the School of Management.

• Paul C. Kelly of East Amherst, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of management science and systems

• Danielle M. Dauria of Amherst, Undergraduate Achievement Award, presented to the student who, in the opinion of the Undergraduate Management Association, faculty and Management Alumni Association, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university. Dauria also received the Adriana Ilyse Thaler Memorial Senior Award in Marketing, presented to the senior marketing student who best demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, marketing professionalism and personal motivation.

• Lauren Israel of Somers, MBA Achievement Award, presented to the MBA student who, in the opinion of the Graduate Management Association, faculty and Management Alumni Association, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university

• Barbara A. Evans of West Seneca, a Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to senior accounting students who have contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, the association itself, fellow students and to the School of Management.

• Anetta E. Szumowski of Hicksville, a Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to senior accounting students who have contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, the association itself, fellow students and to the School of Management.

• Kenneth R. Fenske of Lancaster, Wall Street Journal Award, presented to the Millard Fillmore College student who compiled the highest grade-point average.
