Serbian Opposition Leader To Speak At UB Sept. 9

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Svetozar Stojanovic, noted Serbian philosopher and a leader of the democratic opposition to Slobodan Milosevic, will speak at 4 p.m. on Sept. 9 in 280 Park Hall on the UB North Campus.

Stojanovic's lecture, which will be free of charge and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the UB Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences and The Center for Inquiry.

In his lecture, Stojanovic will present his philosophical views on Serbia, Kosovo and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) World Order.

Director of the University of Belgrade's Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, he and his wife lived through the recent NATO bombings.

He is author of several books, including "The Fall of Yugoslavia: Why Communism Failed," "Perestroika: From Marxism and Bolshevism to Gorbachev," "In Search of Democracy in Socialism" and "Between Ideals and Reality."
