BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Jennifer Kosack, who received a bachelor's degree in vocal performance at UB's 154th general commencement on May 14, served as the student vocalist during the ceremony.
Kosack, a soprano from Lancaster, is a founding member, choreographer and director of the Royal Pitches, UB's female a cappella group, and was a member of the UB select choir for four years.
A student of Melissa Thorburn, Kosack won the Department of Music's concerto competition this year and its scholarships for the past two years.
She had been a soloist with the UB Choir. She also performed in the UB Opera Workshop's productions of Jonathan Golove's "Ariel's Birthday" and Mozart's "The Magic Flute."
In addition, Kosack has performed in such musicals as "Guys and Dolls," "Grease," "Godspell," "Chess," "Brigadoon," "Hello Dolly," "Pippin," "Hair," "Anything Goes" and "Oklahoma." She has sung with such Buffalo-area organizations as Empyrean Productions, the Kavinoky Theater and the Lancaster Town Band.
Her voice was used in an art exhibit at the Museum for Textiles Contemporary Gallery in Toronto.
