Zodiaque Dance Company to Present Fall Dance Concert

UB Department of Theatre and Dance will present "Ripples," the fall concert of Zodiaque Dance Company.

An evening of creative energy that ripples and radiates the landscape upon which we move, the performances will be held Oct. 12-15 and 19-22 in the Drama Theatre in the UB Center for the Arts, North Campus. Performances on weekdays and Saturdays will begin at 8 p.m., and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Zodiaque Dance Company was established 26 years ago by Linda Swiniuch and is currently directed by Tom Ralabate. The company is comprised of students in the Department of Theatre and Dance. The concert will feature pieces choreographed by Theatre and Dance faculty members.

Susan E. Anderson, director of dance at the University of South Carolina and guest choreographer for this concert, will present a high-spirited classical work to the music of Shostakovich. A piece by UB's Ralabate will combine poetry, song, and dance to the nostalgic sounds of the Mamas and Papas. In "Creators of Our Own Reality," young choreographer Tiffany Mingo will depict the realities of life in which we are responsible for ourselves, and actions. Tressa Gorman-Crehan will juxtapose jazz movement with a classical score in a fun, brisk work, "Crossed Wires." And an abstraction of the martial arts and power of the human spirit will be presented in "From Within" by Jeanne Palmer-Fornarola. The solo sax of John Klemmer and infectious sounds of Garth Brooks also will highlight the evening. Other choreographers presenting works will include Lynne Kurdziel-Formato, Shelley Hain and William E. Thomas.

Tickets for the performance are $10 for the general public and $5 for UB students.
