UB Offering Three Courses in Conjunction with Graduate Tax Certificate Program

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for Management Development and Institute for Tax Studies in the University at Buffalo School of Management will offer three courses in conjunction with its Graduate Tax Certificate Program beginning April 24. Courses will be held in the Jacobs Management Center on UB's North (Amherst) Campus.

The Graduate Tax Certificate Program is a non-degree-bearing program offering 18 non-credit, graduate-level courses on personal and business taxation. Courses are taught by leading tax practitioners drawn from the accounting and legal professions.

"Tax Practice and Procedure" will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9:10 p.m. from April 24 to June 19. The course will focus on provisions of the Internal Revenue Service code involving assessment, collections, waivers, claims, civil and criminal penalties, statutes of limitations and transferee liability.

"State Taxation of Corporations" will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:10 p.m. from April 26 to June 21. The course will address the approaches various states take when taxing the income and/or franchise of a corporation. The provisions for New York State will be covered in detail.

"Corporate Tax II" will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9:10 p.m. from April 25 to June 20. The course will focus on corporate taxation, including transactions between a corporation and its shareholders, redemptions, liquidating distributions and preferred stock bailouts.
