BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance will offer a Summer Dance Program open to all dancers, studio members, and UB faculty, staff and students.
The day program will be held July 9, 11, 13, 16, 18 and 20, with morning classes available at beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced levels. Morning technique classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and include ballet, modern and jazz. The extended program will be held from 1-3 p.m. and will include concentrated study in tap, Broadway dance styles, composition, improvisation and repertoire. Program costs range from $20 to $60, and pre-registration is encouraged. Participants must be at least a freshman in high school.
The evening program will be held June 18 to July 26. Intermediate- and advanced-level master classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and includes two evenings of ballet, one of modern dance and one of jazz. Costs range from $6 for a single class to $56 for 16 classes. Registration will be accepted at the door. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.
All classes will take place in the dance studios in rooms B82 and B84 in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus. Department of Theatre and Dance faculty, staff and guest artists will teach classes. This year's instructors will include: Tressa Gorman-Crehan, Eileen Lambert, Shelley Hain, Karen Georger, Jeanne Fornarola and Joyce Miller. The guest teacher will be Terri Filips from Niagara University.
