BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Twenty-one University at Buffalo students received awards for excellence in their fields of study during the UB School of Management commencement ceremony held on May 12.
They are:
• Shamistra Abraham of Buffalo, the Dean's Award, presented to the MBA student who compiles the highest grade-point average. Abraham also received the Charles H. Diefendorf Award in Finance, given to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the finance discipline.
• Viesturs Lesins of Buffalo, the Dean's Award
• José Truzman of Amherst, the Dean's Award
• Efrat Rubin of Williamsville, Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, awarded to the full-time undergraduate student who compiles the highest management grade-point average of all eligible graduating students
• Karen H. Woodman of Buffalo, Sidney N. Kahn Memorial Award, presented to the MBA student who has made the greatest contribution to the field of sales and marketing.
• Danelle M. Pitifer of Geneva, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in accounting, presented to the undergraduate or MBA student who, in the judgment of the Faculty Advisory Committee on Internships, has performed in an outstanding manner in every dimension of his or her internship.
• Florcie Calixte of Brooklyn, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of community-service mentorship
• Chiew Liang Yap of Buffalo, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of community-service mentorship
• Ashley Heying Lu of Buffalo, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of finance
• Dana M. Marks of Melville, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of general management
• Jamie C. Shrock of Amherst, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of human resources. Schrock also received the William H. Wendel Memorial Award, presented to the MBA student who has made the greatest contribution to the field of human resources management.
• Michelle A. Polakiewicz of Blasdell, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of internal audit
• Sudhakar Vissa of Amherst, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of management science and systems
• Daniel W. Yoon of Williamsville, Outstanding Intern-of-the-Year Award in the area of marketing
• Michelle L. Rawleigh of Buffalo, Undergraduate Achievement Award, presented to the undergraduate student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and also has rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university
• Melissa K. Sirianno of Orchard Park, MBA Achievement Award, presented to the MBA student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and also has rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university
• Manish K. Agrawal of Buffalo, Ph.D. Achievement Award, presented to the doctoral student who, in the opinion of the faculty and the Management Alumni Association, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and also has rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university
• Lisa Stefanou of Pittsford, Adriana Ilyse Thaler Memorial Senior Award in Marketing, presented to the senior marketing student who best demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, marketing professionalism and personal motivation
• Josephine Amico of Buffalo, a University at Buffalo Accounting Association Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to the senior accounting students who have contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, fellow students and to the School of Management.
• Shang-Tse Yang of Buffalo, a Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award
• Julie A. Mazzu of West Seneca, Wall Street Journal Award, presented to the Millard Fillmore College student who compiles the highest management grade-point average of all eligible graduating students.
