BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Institute for Tax Studies in the University at Buffalo School of Management is offering three courses leading to a Graduate Tax Certificate.
To be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Aug. 20 through Oct. 22, in the Jacobs Management Center on UB's North (Amherst) Campus, the courses are part of a graduate-level 18-course, non-credit program on personal and business taxation.
To be eligible for enrollment, students must possess an undergraduate degree and have successfully completed a basic college-level tax course or received equivalent tax training.
The courses being offered are:
o Estate and Gift Taxation, an in-depth study of federal and New York State rules governing the taxation of gratuitous transfers, both during lifetime and at death.
o Introduction to Property Transaction, a study of various property transactions, including basis determination and cost recovery, determination and taxation of section 1221 and 1231 gains, and losses and related recapture.
o Introduction to Corporate Income Taxation, an-depth analysis of the federal income taxation of corporate formation, operation and non-liquidating corporate distributions (Subchapter C).
Tuition is $365 per course for students pursuing the certificate and $385 per course for students taking courses without enrolling in the certificate program.
