BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fanfare Theatre Ensemble will perform the original musical production of "Pinocchio," based on the classic tale by Carlo Collodi, at 2 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the Mainstage Theatre located in Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

The performance, part of the UB Center for the Arts Family Adventure series, is sponsored by Adelphia Media Services and WJYE-FM. As part of the series, free children's activities will be provided one hour prior to the performance.

Fanfare Theatre Ensemble's original musical adaptation follows the hair-raising adventures of Pinocchio from a puppet stage to the belly of a whale, using lively songs and rousing dances combined with theatrical magic to dazzle young audiences. The performance is recommended for children ages 8 and under.

The musical will include performances by Evan Thompson, who has appeared on television in such programs as "Law & Order," "Ryan's Hope" and "Saturday Night Live," and Joan Thompson, who has enjoyed a long stage career both on and off Broadway. The musical also will feature an original score by John Clifton, who has scored several films and served as music director for Liza Minelli. The Thompsons and Clifton are responsible for more than a dozen musicals for young audiences.

Fanfare Theatre Ensemble has been entertaining children for more than 30 years with their wholesome brand of musical theater and their ability to captivate the audience.
