BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The UB Center for the Arts will present Missoula Children's Theatre's production of "Red Riding Hood" at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. Part of the Family Adventure Series, the production is sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets. Media sponsors are WGRZ-TV and WJYE-FM.

In addition to professional actors, the production will feature more than 50 local school children (grades K-12) in various roles. The local performers will be chosen during an open audition on Sept. 30. Those chosen to be in the cast will rehearse everyday leading up to the public performance.

"Red Riding Hood" puts a new spin on the classic fairy tale. Red Riding Hood, not so little anymore, and her pre-teen pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in this adventure. The show also features the Big Bad Wolf, who is not so bad after all, a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger, a pack of woefully nasty young wolves and a handsome Woodsman. With help from her family and a loyal young Locksmith, Red finds her Grandma and a whole lot more.

Missoula Children's Theatre is a non-profit organization based in Missoula, Montana. This coming year nearly 55,000 cast members across the globe will take to the stage to the delight and applause of their families, friends, community, neighbors and teachers.

Tickets for "Red Riding Hood" are $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 and under and seniors.
