BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present A Garfield Christmas at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 27 in the Mainstage theater, located in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. Who can resist the understated charms of Garfield, an orange, chubby, and somewhat lazy animated cat, who now comes to life in this all-new musical stage production. A Garfield Christmas is a wonderful musical, telling of the story of a cat who has lost the true meaning of this joyous holiday.
It's Christmas time, and Garfield's owner, Jon, along with his dog Odie are getting ready to celebrate the season. But Garfield can only seem to focus on opening his present. His lack of true Christmas spirit is a source of frustration for Jon, and to make matters worse, the Christmas tree lights won't work if there isn't enough spirit to bring them to life! In an act of desperation, ornaments from the Christmas tree begin to come alive -- including the angel from the top! Together with an elf, who has been sent by Santa as the Official Christmas Spirit Inspector, they manage not only to make Garfield realize the true meaning of Christmas and giving, but also to bring happiness and joy to themselves and each other.
A Garfield Christmas promises non-stop singing, dancing, holiday spirit and loads of audience participation. Kids and adults alike will be swept up in this lively holiday musical featuring such Christmas favorites as "Jingle Bells," "Deck the Halls," "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and many more, including unforgettable new original numbers.
