10 Named to UB Foundation Board of Trustees

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Ten individuals have been named to serve three-year terms ending June 30, 2007, on the board of trustees of the University at Buffalo Foundation, Inc.

The group includes: Donald K. Boswell, Williamsville; Mark J. Czarnecki, B.S. '77, Williamsville; Angelo M. Fatta, Buffalo; Beverly Foit-Albert, Ph.D. '78, M.Arch. '75, Orchard Park; William L. Joyce, Buffalo; Ashok G. Kaveeshwar, Ph.D. '69, Bethesda, Md.; William L. McHugh, MBA '79, Buffalo; Reginald B. Newman, Williamsville; Denise E. O'Donnell, J.D. '82, MSW '73, Buffalo, and Arthur A. Russ, Jr., J.D. '67, Williamsville.

A broadcast industry veteran of nearly 25 years, Boswell is president and CEO of the Western New York Public Broadcasting Association (WNED). A native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Boswell has received numerous awards from the Public Broadcasting Service and serves on several professional and civic boards.

An executive vice president of M&T Bank, Czarnecki is president of the M&T Investment Group. Active in professional and community groups and UB alumni activities, Czarnecki is a member of UB's Blue and White Club.

Fatta is president of BuffLink, Inc., vice president of the Fatta Foundation and manager of Fatta Enterprises LLP. A graduate of Canisius College who also holds a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Wayne State University, Fatta sits on various boards and has received many honors recognizing his service to the Western New York community.

Foit-Albert, president of Foit-Albert Associates, is active in the Western New York community and has won several professional and civic awards. She has held many leadership positions in the UB Alumni Association and received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the association in 1992.

Joyce is a partner in Strategic Investments & Holdings, Inc., a company he joined in 1986. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard University, and is a guest lecturer on mergers and acquisitions for the MBA Program at Canisius College. He is chair of the Kaleida Health Board of Directors and serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations.

Kaveeshwar, who holds a doctorate in physics from UB, is former chair of the Dean's Advisory Council for the UB College of Arts and Sciences and was chair of the campaign committee for the College of Arts and Sciences for "The Campaign for UB: Generation to Generation." He is CEO of Orange Technologies, Inc. in Gaithersburg, Md.

McHugh, a health-care executive, has had many community leadership roles. He has been chair of the board of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Society and served on the Buffalo and Erie County Private Industry Council. He also has served on the UBF board and its audit committee.

Newman, chairman of NOCO Energy Corp., has been chair of the UBF Board of Trustees since July 1, 1996. His long history of civic involvement includes memberships and leadership roles in several prominent regional organizations. Among his many honors are the Walter P. Cooke Award from the UB Alumni Association and Niagara Frontier Executive of the Year from the UB School of Management.

As a former U.S. attorney for the Western District of New York, O'Donnell worked on both the Oklahoma City bombing case and the case of James Kopp. Since 2001, she has been a partner at Hodgson Russ. O'Donnell is a member of several professional organizations and serves on the boards of many community groups. In addition, O'Donnell serves or has served on the dean's advisory councils for UB's Law School and the School of Social Work, and as both a member and president of the Law School Alumni Association board.

Currently a partner in Phillips Lytle, Russ, has been active with various professional and civic boards. Russ also served on the board of the UB Law School Alumni Association board and Law School Steering Committee.
