BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Steven Wright at 7 p.m. on Feb. 13 in the Mainstage theater, located at the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.
Wright is a stand-up comedian who is renowned for his wry wordplay jokes and the absolute deadpan manner in which he delivers them. He is one of the hottest acts to catch today.
Wright has been doing stand-up comedy since 1979. His 1986 debut album, "I Have A Pony," earned him a Grammy nomination. He has made appearances in comedy clubs, television programs, HBO Comedy Specials and films, as well as lending his voice to characters in Comedy Central's Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist and Fox TV's The Simpsons.
His film credits include "Desperately Seeking Susan" and "Stars and Bars." He starred in the HBO special "On Location: Steven Wright." Wright won an Academy Award for writing and starring in the short film, "The Appointments of Dennis Jennings." He has had numerous appearances on "Saturday Night Live," "Late Night with David Letterman" and other late-night comedy shows.
