UB Department of Theatre and Dance to Present Zodiaque Dance Company in "Voices...that dance on"

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University at Buffalo will present Zodiaque Dance Company in "Voices…that dance on" Feb. 24-27 and March 3-6 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. Media sponsor is WBFO-FM.

Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Feb. 24-26 and March 3-5, and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27 and March 6.

Everything that a person can think or feel, dare to dream, and imagine is expressed profoundly in the arts. Dance, presented on the concert stage, is a part of this human expression. The purpose of our dancing is to move you to a place where the rhythm of life moves in harmony with the choreographers, designers, performers, and you the captive audience.

"Voices… that dance on" includes choreography by faculty members Tressa Gorman Crehan, Jeanne Fornarola, Joyce Miller Lichtenberger, Tom Ralabate and William E. Thomas, as well as students Cesar Salinas and Teal Darkenwald. Two works, Thomas' "Alternating Realities" and student choreographer Cesar Salinas' work "Entrance to Exit," are selected works for the upcoming Northeast Regional American College Dance Festival, to be held in the Center for the Arts. Student choreographer Teal Darkenwald's "Lucid Dreams" is an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Department of Media Study, and is funded by the UB Honors Program Research Fund.

As a finale, Zodiaque Dance Company will perform "The Parsons' Etude," choreographed by David Parsons. "The Parsons' Etude" is part of the "Repertory Etudes® Collection," curated and directed by Carolyn Adams, and Julie Strandberg.

Now in its 31st season, the company's unique blend of movement inquiry, encompassing a wide range of movement styles and techniques, allows for the choreographic voice to inspire and inform. Linda Swiniuch is the founding director of Zodiaque Dance Company. Tom Ralabate is the director, and Tressa Gorman Crehan is the associate director.
