BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts will present "Music is Art Live @ The Center," a series of live concerts by local musicians and area artist exhibitions to be held Tuesdays (March 1, 8, 22, 29 and April 5, 12, 19) in the Center for the Arts Atrium during March and April. Artist exhibitions will begin at 7 p.m., and music will start at 9 p.m. All events will be recorded for future television broadcast.

"Music is Art Live @ The Center" is a collaboration between the Center for the Arts and the Music is Art Foundation with founder Robby Takac of ChameleonWest Studios and the Goo Goo Dolls.

On Tuesday evenings, the center's atrium will be transformed into a bustling coffeehouse, featuring a unique blend of cutting-edge musicians and creative visual artists, in a setting that is free and open to people of all ages. During each event, a camera crew will shoot footage to produce a half-hour television episode highlighting the intimate original musical performances, visual-arts demonstrations and the stories behind the artist's work.  Seven episodes of the show will be broadcast on local television and simulcast on UB Campus Cable. In addition, the events will be broadcast on a future SUNY-TV channel.

Takac and Thomas Burrows, director of the Center of the Arts, will serve as executive producers, supported by a team of production personnel from the Center for the Arts, ChameleonWest Studios, local video production personnel and UB student interns.

The Music is Art Foundation, is a non-profit organization supporting music and the arts by encouraging local artistic involvement through Western New York schools and community events. This organization, the vision of Takac, offers the famed Music is Arts Festival, a free two-day festival open to all ages, celebrating music and the arts. Now entering its third year, the festival, held on the grounds of ChameleonWest Studios, features musical acts, performance artists, dance troupes, local photographers, painters and art cooperatives. This year the Music is Art Foundation initiated the MIA Musical Instrument Drive. With the help of local volunteers, radio stations and publications throughout the Buffalo area, the foundation coordinated the collection of musical instruments and distributed them to area schools.

Currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, the UB Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization that presents a wide range of high quality performing and visual arts for the university, Western New York and beyond.  Situated on the UB North (Amherst) Campus, the center is the largest and most versatile arts organization in the region.  Part of the center's vision is to enrich Western New York by providing a wide range of cultural opportunities and expanding access to the arts through its community outreach activities.
