BUFFALO, N.Y. -– UB Parking & Transportation Services has announced that students have selected "UB Stampede" as the name of UB's new bus line, which will kick off on May 16 as part of UB's new agreement with Cognisa.
In March and April, UB conducted a "Name Your Bus" contest. Students were invited to submit their ideas for names on myUB/myOpinion from March 24-30. From March 31 to April 6, students then voted for their favorite from among the top-5 bus names.
The top-5 names were selected based on the number of submissions, repetitive themes and creativity. Prize winners were then selected at random, by students, from among those who submitted the top 5 names. There were more than 1,500 votes.
Each top-5 winner receives $50 in Campus Cash plus Cognisa promotional items. In addition, the Grand Prize winner will receive a laptop computer and a gift basket of UB merchandise, tickets and Cognisa promotional items. The Grand Prize winner also will be invited to launch the new bus fleet during Opening Weekend.
The results of the vote and the winning students are:
Grand prize: UB Stampede, Michael Jason Nowak
2. Bull Rider, David R. Stoller
3. UB Express, Margaret R. Tisbe
4. UB Link, Harsh Vardhan Jain
5. The Bull, Charles T. McClive
In May, UB's new bus fleet will begin appearing on campus, with the new UB look, including the name "UB Stampede." The campus officially will launch the bus fleet at Opening Weekend in August.
