BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Law School dedicated the Hodgson Russ LLP Classroom -- Room 106 of O'Brian Hall on UB's North (Amherst) Campus -- with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 25.

The Law School named the classroom in honor of Buffalo's largest law firm because of its generous $125,000 gift during the "Campaign for UB" and the many years of support the school has received from the firm.

Hodgson Russ gifts have supported the Buffalo Public Interest Law Program, the Professor William R. Greiner Scholarship Fund, the Intellectual Property Program and the Research and Writing Program, and also helped underwrite various Law Alumni Association events.

Gary M. Schober, president of Hodgson Russ, stated, "With 78 graduates of the University at Buffalo Law School currently practicing at our firm, we are proud of our association with the law school and grateful that those fine attorneys chose to pursue their careers at Hodgson Russ."

"The renovation and transformation of this classroom shows how deeply committed Hodgson Russ is to the continuing excellence in the education of law," remarked Nils Olsen, dean of UB Law School. "The Hodgson Russ LLP Classroom is a wonderful tribute and testimony to the firm and its dedicated employees."

In addition to providing financial support, Hodgson Russ attorneys have volunteered countless hours of service to the school, including the Law School Dean's Advisory Council, Annual Appeal, Law Student Mentoring Program, Law Alumni Association Board, Moot Court and career fairs. Each year the firm provides space and telephones for the Law School's phonathon, a volunteer, fund-raising drive that raises $50,000 to $100,000 annually.

One of the oldest law firms in the country -- established in 1817 -- Hodgson Russ is the only law firm that can count two former U.S. presidents, Millard Fillmore and Grover Cleveland, among its alumni. With more than 220 attorneys practicing in all major areas of law, and seven offices in New

York, Florida and Canada, it is among the 200 largest law firms headquartered in the United States. It is one of approximately 100 firms in the country listed in America's Greatest Places to Work with a Law Degree. In June 2005, Hodgson Russ received the Carol S. Knox Family-Friendly Employer Award from the Capital District Women's Bar Association.

Since its founding in 1887, the UB Law School -- the State University of New York's only law school -- has established an excellent reputation and is regarded widely as a leader in legal education. Its cutting-edge curriculum provides both a strong theoretical foundation and the practical tools graduates need to succeed in a competitive marketplace. A special emphasis on interdisciplinary studies, public service and opportunities for hands-on clinical education has placed the school among the nation's premier public law schools.

The University at Buffalo is a premier research-intensive public university, the largest and most comprehensive campus in the State University of New York.
