Developing the Warm Heart: Lecture at the UB Anderson Gallery follows-up on the recent visit by the Dalai Lama

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Frank Howard will present a lecture entitled "Developing the Warm Heart" at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the University at Buffalo Anderson Gallery.

Howard is the director of the Amitabha Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture of Tibet.  In "Developing the Warm Heart," Howard will present and explore one of the classics of Tibetan literature, "The Jewel Ornament of Liberation," an 11th-century text written by the Tibetan physician-monk Gampopa.  In this Tibetan masterwork Gampopa offers a concise presentation of Buddhism and outlines how to develop a warm and genuine heart and mind.

The lecture will take place at the UB Anderson Gallery in the Museum Studies Room on the second floor (Room 206).  "Developing the Warm Heart" is part of a series of events by the UB Art Galleries that follow-up on the Dalai Lama's recent visit.  The lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.  To reserve a space, call Ginny Lohr at (716) 829-3754 or send an e-mail to ginny@andersongallery.org.
