UB Pharmacy Students Receive Awards

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Twenty-eight graduates of the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences received awards during the school's recent commencement ceremony.

The University at Buffalo is a premier research-intensive public university, the largest and most comprehensive campus in the State University of New York. UB's more than 27,000 students pursue their academic interests through more than 300 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs. Founded in 1846, the University at Buffalo is a member of the Association of American Universities.

The award winners were:

• Devon Benson of Jamestown, the Pharmacists' Association of Western New York Student Leadership Award.

• Amanda Boeckel of West Henrietta, the Academy of Students of Pharmacy Certificate of Recognition.

• Patrick Comerford of West Seneca, the Mylan Pharmaceutical Excellence in Pharmacy Award and the Academy of Students of Pharmacy National Patient Counseling Award.

• Charis Gatas of Tonawanda, the Pharmacists' Society of the State of New York Award.

• Charles Greenberg of Amherst, the National Community Pharmacists Association Outstanding Student Member Award.

• Jodi Grillo of Batavia, the Margaret C. Swisher Memorial Award, the Francis P. Taylor Award and the Eino Nelson Award.

• Andrea Hanson of Tonawanda, the First Place Western New York Society of Health-system Pharmacists Award.

• Ekaterina Kossykh-Burrows of Rochester, the Second Place Western New York Society of Health-system Pharmacists Award.

• William Loeffler of Middleport, the New York State Chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Research Award.

• Kwaku Marfo of Buffalo, the American Pharmaceutical Association-Academy of Students of Pharmacy Mortar and Pestle Professionalism Award, sponsored by McNeil Consumer Healthcare.

• Lauren Maroni of Hamburg, the Third Place Merck Award and the Roger Mantsavinos Award.

• Kari Mergenhagen of Williamsville, the First Place Merck Award, the Roy M. Barr Award, the Applied Pharmacotherapy Professional Experience Program Award, the Excellence in Pharmacogenomics Award and the Robert H. Ritz Award.

• Lynn Monteleone of West Seneca, the Second-Place Merck Award, the Robert M. Cooper Memorial Award and the Lilly Achievement Award.

• Nathaniel Page of Buffalo, the Kelli Jordan Memorial Award and the Facts and Comparisons Award of Excellence in Clinical Communication.

• Kerrie Peterson of Naples, the McKesson Leadership Award and the GlaxoSmithKline Patient Care Award.

• Heather Pula of Buffalo, the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database Recognition Award.

• Ronald Rambally of Cheektowaga, the Roche Pharmacy Communications Award.

• Jared Reles of Cicero, the Samuel J. Bauda Award.

• Diana Rutkowski of Cheektowaga, the A.B. Lemon Memorial Award.

• Jeffrey Scull of North Tonawanda, the Renee A. Dederich Award.

• Tyler Smith-Strutz of Key West, Fla., the UB Pharmacy Alumni Association Award.

• Megan Todd of Walton, the Ambulatory Care Professional Experience Program Award.

• Regina Ventura of Lockport, the Phi Lambda Sigma Chapter Member of the Year Award.

• Daniel Wachowicz of Sanborn, the Michael E. Crawford Award.

• Rachel Weber of West Seneca, the TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA Outstanding Student Award.

• Regina Will of Martinsville, N.J., the Lori Esch Memorial Award.

• Matthew Woltz of East Aurora, the Perrigo Award of Excellence in Non-Prescription Medication Studies.

• Chia-Ching Wu of Flushing, the David E. Guttman Award.
