BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Barrage at 8 p.m. on Nov. 2 in the Mainstage theater in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.
Barrage is a high-octane fiddle-fest that features an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance.
The cast of Barrage features six violinists/vocalists, one drummer, one bass player, and a guitarist.
The year 2006 marked the end of the group's first decade, in which Barrage entertained millions of people around the globe. Their second decade will be launched with a series of new tours around the world. Barrage will complete over 200 performances in the USA, Europe, Asia and Canada. Barrage performances offer up a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and incredible performance vitality. The music of Barrage continues to evolve -- combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The cast delivers the show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity that will take your breath away.
Since its creation in Calgary, Canada, in 1996, Barrage has been featured many times at events worldwide and has played for many presidents, prime ministers and princes. Barrage has also had its television productions aired on several international TV networks, including the PBS network in the USA, the BBC in the UK and CBC in Canada, and has performed live shows in New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Norway, Monaco, the U.S. and the UK.
Tickets for Barrage are $24, students $15. Tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Center for the Arts Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations, including Kaufmann's.
