BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Michael Greenberg, Ph.D., director of the National Center for Neighborhood and Brownfield Redevelopment, will be the 2007 Nan and Will Clarkson Chair in Urban and Regional Planning in the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning.
Greenberg, professor and associate dean of faculty in Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, will be in residence at UB from Oct. 22-25 and will deliver the Will and Nan Clarkson Lecture in Urban and Regional Planning at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in 301 Crosby Hall.
The public lecture will be free and open to the public. It will be followed by a reception for Greenberg.
Greenberg studies environmental health and neighborhood redevelopment polices. He is the author of several books on urbanization, public health and the environment, including "Occupational, Industrial, and Environmental Toxicology" (1997) and, most recently, "Reporter's Environmental Handbook" (2003).
He has been a member of National Research Council committees that focus on waste management, such as the destruction of the U.S. chemical weapons stockpile and nuclear weapons, and his articles have appeared in more than 100 science, social science and policy journals.
He serves as associate editor for environmental health for the American Journal of Public Health, is area editor for social science for Risk Analysis, and associate editor for environmental health for the American Journal of Public Health.
Greenberg has received awards for research from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Society for Professional Journalists, the Public Health Association, the Association of American Geographers, and Society for Risk Analysis.
