Preschoolers from University at Buffalo Child Care Centers and high school students from the Buffalo Public Schools will watch streaming Webcasts of planetary activities going on as far as a billion light years away from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today (Friday, April 3, 2009) on the second-floor landing of Fronczak Hall on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.
Best times for media: Preschoolers will visit the event at 10:15 a.m., with high school students scheduled to attend at 2:30 p.m.
UB's Department of Physics will host more than 150 students, including some from the Buffalo Public Schools, and members of the public who want to see the wonderful world of astronomy from some of the most powerful telescopes in the world.
Streaming Webcasts from the world's major telescopes will be shown on a 50-inch plasma television monitor throughout the day, and UB physics professors will be available to explain what is being shown.
