BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Scot Faulkner, author of the bestseller "Naked Emperors: The Failure of the Republican Revolution" and a consultant specializing in strategic change and leadership, will speak at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine commencement to be held at 5 p.m. May 9 in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.
Falkner is an advisor to numerous corporations, including the American Management Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield, ConAgra, The Hershey Company, Independent Insurance Agents of America, Lockheed Martin, Marriott, the Smithsonian Institution and the World Bank.
He also works with governments and corporations in emerging economies, including Afghanistan, China, Dubai, Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, Tanzania and Togo. His articles on leadership, management reform and global competitiveness have been published in The New York Times, The Washington Times and various business publications, and he is a frequent guest on major television news programs and talk radio.
Faulkner served as the first chief administrative officer of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995-97, overseeing all nonlegislative operations. He was national director of personnel for the Reagan Bush Campaign of 1980, and went on to serve in the Presidential Transition and on the White House Staff. During the Reagan administration, Faulkner held executive positions at the Federal Aviation Administration, the General Services Administration and the Peace Corps.
Faulkner holds a master's degree in public administration from American University, a bachelor's degree in government from Lawrence University, and studied at the London School of Economics and Georgetown University. He has served as adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and lectured at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He serves on the boards of numerous corporations and foundations.
