BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fifteen graduates of the University at Buffalo School of Management received awards during the school's commencement ceremony on May 9.
The University at Buffalo is a premier research-intensive public university, the largest and most comprehensive campus in the State University of New York. The Wall Street Journal has ranked the UB School of Management No. 9 in the nation among schools with strong regional recruiting bases. In addition, BusinessWeek has ranked the school as one of the country's top 5 business schools for the fastest return on MBA investment, and Forbes has cited it as one of the best business schools in the U.S. for the return on investment it provides MBA graduates.
The graduates and the awards they received are:
• Michael A. Steenberge of Pittsford, the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, presented to students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which include arts, athletics, career achievement, community service and leadership. Steenberge also received the Undergraduate Student Achievement Award, presented to the undergraduate student who has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extra-curricular service to the school and the university.
• Przemyslaw W. Garbaczewski of Tonawanda, the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, presented to students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which include arts, athletics, career achievement, community service and leadership.
• Scott M. Eidens of Scotia, the Center for International Leadership's William H. Wendel Memorial Award for MBA Student Excellence in Leadership Skills, presented to the graduating MBA student who best exemplifies leadership within the context of the multinational cohort of full-time MBA program participants.
• Alexander T. DiNunzio of Williamsville, the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, presented to the full-time undergraduate student who compiles the highest management grade point average of all eligible graduating students.
• Brian S. Detty of Cheektowaga, the Charles H. Diefendorf Award in Finance, presented to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the finance discipline.
• Adam MacKay of Hingham, Mass., the Sidney N. Kahn Memorial Award for Excellence in Sales and Marketing, presented to the MBA student who has made the greatest contribution to the field of sales and marketing.
• Rose M. Hu of Snyder, the MBA Student Achievement Award, presented to the MBA student who has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.
• Sandeep Godbole of Buffalo, the Master of Science Student Achievement Award, presented to the M.S. student who has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.
• Rui (Ray) Chen of Tonawanda, the Ph.D. Student Achievement Award, presented to the doctoral student who has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.
• Lindsay S. Feuer of Westbury, the Adriana Ilyse Thaler Memorial Senior Award in Marketing, presented to the senior marketing student who best demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, marketing professionalism and personal motivation.
• Eric S. Fogelfis of Plainview and Janelle N. Provo of Mount Morris (co-recipients), the University at Buffalo Accounting Association Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to the senior accounting students who have contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, fellow students and the School of Management.
• Claudia M. Perdomo of Palisades, the Dr. Marcel and Mrs. Kathryn Vinokur Award to Promote Global Understanding, presented to the graduating School of Management student born outside of North America who contributes to promoting global understanding among MBA students.
• Jana Faour of Amherst, the Wall Street Journal Award for Academic Excellence by an MBA Student, presented to the full-time MBA student who compiles the highest grade point average of all eligible graduating students.
• Carly C. Hartmans of Orchard Park, the Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Dina Wind Award to Promote International Understanding, to the student born in the United States of America who contributes to promoting international understanding among MBA students.
