BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Would you love to know how to stop your two-year-old toddler's tantrums in the supermarket, teach him to share blocks at nursery school or to help her behave nicely during play dates? Did you know there is an "off switch" for crying that all babies are born with?
University at Buffalo alumnus Harvey Karp, M.D., creator of the bestselling "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and "The Happiest Toddler on the Block" DVDs and books will teach participants how to stop 50-90 percent of toddler tantrums, easily transport any baby from screams to sleepy serenity in minutes and boost their sleep by 1-3 hours per night. No wonder The New York Times said, "Roll over Dr. Spock!"
Karp will share his ideas and answer questions on Sept. 30 at a 5:30 p.m. "The Happiest Kids on the Block," presentation in the Center for Tomorrow on UB's North (Amherst) Campus. The program is sponsored by the UB Alumni Association, UB Child Care Center and UB Wellness and Work Life Balance Office.
Karp's work has been showcased on television shows that include Good Morning America, Dr. Phil, Inside Edition, The Doctors, The View, Larry King Live and CBS News.
Currently more than 3,000 professionals are either teaching or are in training to teach Karp's methods in Happiest Baby classes in hospitals and clinics worldwide.
Deadline for registration is Sept. 29. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased online at https://secure.www.ubconnect.org/olc/pub/BUF/events/BUF2234098.html or by phone at 645-3312.
