The University at Buffalo will hold a media briefing at 2:15 p.m. today (Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009) in the atrium of the Center for the Arts on the North Campus to discuss "Building UB," the university's historic master plan that will guide the growth of UB as it implements the UB 2020 strategic plan to become a model 21st century university.
The university's first comprehensive master plan in nearly four decades, "Building UB" outlines UB's long-range vision to create one university with three seamlessly connected campuses: North, South and Downtown.
The 2:15 p.m. briefing will detail the project's historic size and scope -- a multi-billion dollar investment in the community to create millions of square feet of space to be constructed over a minimum of 20 years. By growing its three campuses, UB will significantly increase its economic and cultural impact on the entire region.
Images from the plan showing where and how UB plans to grow will be on display and available to members of the media.
The plan is the result of two years' work and the input of thousands of people, including members of the university community and the public. It is a major milestone in the university's strategic plan, UB 2020. A public unveiling of "Building UB" will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts. More than 500 people are expected to attend.
