BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy -- Masters of the Fiddle on March 7 at 8 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus. The performance is sponsored in part by Monaco's Violin Shop & Music Center.
Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy are two of the world's most celebrated fiddlers. They also happen to be married. Together MacMaster and Leahy are a whirlwind of fiddle-driven music, dance and song. The foot-tapping rave-ups, heart-wrenching ballads and world-class step dancing of this collaboration ignite the stage. Audiences now have the chance to hear the fruits of this renowned musical matrimony during an unforgettable evening of
Celtic music.
Both lead successful musical careers in their own right. Leahy's family band -- Leahy -- includes seven of his siblings. MacMaster is one of the best-known musicians in the tradition of Cape Breton fiddle music, and has made a highly successful career as a touring musician, traveling worldwide and performing as many as 250 shows in a year.
They have been married since 2002 and have three young children. This will mark their first tour together.
