UB's TCIE adds mentoring to boost project outcomes of Lean training

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Professionals interested in boosting an organization's efficiency can enroll in Certified Lean Professional Training being offered by the University at Buffalo's Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE) starting March 16.

The program will now include a mentoring component.

CLP immerses candidates in Lean manufacturing techniques that help businesses streamline operations, saving money and reducing waste by identifying and eliminating inefficient processes, improving on-time delivery, decreasing cycle time and increasing product quality.

Candidates are required to complete a project using Lean tools at their place of employment and to pass a certification exam. The training includes the standard 30 hours of classroom instruction traditionally offered, plus nine hours reserved for assisting candidates with their improvement projects.

Sessions will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 16 to June 8 (except April 20), and July 20 in the UB Technology Incubator, 1576 Sweet Home Road, Amherst. Cost is $1,095; the registration deadline is March 2.

Julie Styles, a facilitator with UB's TCIE, will conduct training. Styles has more than 15 years of financial, operations, general management and consulting experience in industrial, financial and service environments.
