Some of the best science minds around bring their hands-on exhibits and passion for their work to the University at Buffalo's North Campus today (Wednesday, March 10) for the university's annual Science Exploration Day celebration.

More than 500 of Western New York's most promising high school science students will watch about 25 researchers give presentations in classrooms in and around Norton Hall, near the university's Student Union. Exhibits and demonstrations suitable for photographers and video cameras include an earthquake simulation tour, exotic invaders of the Great Lakes and "really gross anatomy and physiology."

The presentations begin at 9:15 a.m. and continue until shortly after 1 p.m. Media are invited to watch the demonstrations and interview those giving presentations throughout the sessions.

Giving the keynote address is NASA Associate Administrator Chris Scolese, a graduate of UB, who as a student at Cleveland Hill High School won the Western New York Science Fair competition for an exhibit on model rocketry. Scolese will discuss Grand Challenges and Space Exploration during several sessions with the high school students in Woldman Theatre, 112 Norton Hall.
