The University at Buffalo School of Nursing will unveil its new home and innovative academic approach with a grand opening and tour of renovated clinical facilities and research space -- including exclusive, live interviews with its talking "patient" mannequins -- at 4:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 16) in Wende Hall on the university's South Campus.
Nursing school administrators, faculty, students and alumni will be among those attending the ceremony, which will highlight new simulation labs, examination rooms and new student facilities that are central in the school's integrated approach. UB educators will also be available to explain how the new facilities will help prepare nursing students for a medical world that gives them increasing responsibility over the care of patients.
On display will be state-of-the-art classrooms, instructional laboratories and high tech equipment, including Samson and Homer, the school's resident interactive "patient" mannequins that simulate actual emergency and examination room situations.
Media are invited to Wende Hall at 4:30 p.m. for tours and opportunities to interview members of the UB's School of Nursing community, including Samson and Homer. Individual requests for alternate times can be made by contacting Charles Anzalone of the UB Office of Communications at 716-645-4600 or 716-440-8824 on site.
