Leaders from Kaleida Health and the University at Buffalo will gather for brief remarks as the last sequence of steel is erected at the construction site of a new combined $291 million clinical care, research and business incubation building to be located next to Buffalo General Hospital at Goodrich and Ellicott streets.
Who: Kaleida Health President and CEO James Kaskie and UB President John B. Simpson will address a small group of onlookers as the steel is raised at the construction site.
What: The new 10-floor facility, slated for completion in 2011, will house four floors of Kaleida's Global Heart and Vascular Institute (GHVI) and four floors of UB's Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) and Biosciences Incubator, as well as lobby and physical plant space.
When and Where: The event will take place at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday, July 13) at the construction site. Enter Goodrich Street from Michigan and travel a half block to the construction site.
Why: This is the largest construction project underway in Western New York. Finalization of the steel is a milestone in the building's construction. The new facility will bring together Kaleida Health physicians and UB researchers in a collaborative effort to deliver state-of-the-art clinical care, produce major research breakthroughs and spin off new biotechnology businesses and jobs.
