Indian-American author Jhumpa Lahiri will present the latest installment in the University at Buffalo's Distinguished Speakers Series with a lecture to be held Wednesday, March 2, in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus.
She received a Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for "Interpreter of Maladies," a collection of stories exploring issues of love and identity among immigrants and cultural transplants. Lahiri's "Unaccustomed Earth" received the 2008 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the world's largest prize for a short story collection.
She is a member of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities, appointed by President Barack Obama.
During the program, audio and/or video photography, as well as still photography, will be limited to the first five minutes of Lahiri's lecture.
