BUFFALO, N.Y -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Something So Right on Saturday, April 16, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 at 2 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus.
Something So Right is a world premiere music, dance and theatre experience told through the words and music of Paul Simon. Featuring the combined talents of Western New York's acclaimed LehrerDance and MusicalFare Theatre companies in collaboration with UB Center for the Arts, Something So Right highlights decades of memorable songs and explores the ups and downs of a relationship between two people. Combining dance, live music, and theatre in a uniquely original way, the production is a highly entertaining and one of a kind experience.
Something So Right is based on an original story concept by Randall Kramer (director), Jon Lehrer (choreographer and co-director), Jason Bravo (musical director and arranger) and John Fredo, and is performed with the permission of Paul Simon Music. Among the cast are the extraordinary talents of Western New York's own Terrie George and John Fredo and recent UB dance graduate, Colleen Walsh who is a LehrerDance company member.
Something So Right is produced by UB Center for the Arts, with additional funding from the John R. Oishei Foundation. "This is what the Center for the Arts should be doing," says Thomas Burrows, executive director of the Center for the Arts. "I've always wanted to be able to commission, yet never had the necessary funding. But when you do a collaboration of this kind, and you have talented people in two different areas, with time to let something evolve, that's much better than commissioning a new work. It's making room to create, to innovate."
Tickets for Something So Right are $35.50 general admission and $25 for (students any school) and $20 (UB students). A limited number of $125 Patron tickets are also available. Patron ticket includes prime seating and a private reception with the performers and artistic team. Proceeds will benefit the production as well as future new work. For Patron ticket information please call 716-645-6259.
