k.d.lang's pitch-perfect voice has once more been thrust back into the spotlight, this time with the help of her band, the Siss Boom Bang. k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang will perform material from Sing it Loud, as well as many other songs from her extensive catalogue, which includes such hits as "Constant Craving" and more.
k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang's new album, Sing it Loud, is lang's first studio album since 2008's Watershed. Sing it Loud marks the first time lang has worked with a full band since the start of her extraordinary career more than 25 years ago.
About lang, The New York Times has said, "Few singers command such perfection of pitch. Her voice, at once beautiful and unadorned and softened with a veil of smoke, invariably hits the middle of a note and remains there." Fellow Canadian Michael Buble has described lang as "the best female singer in the whole world." Tony Bennett, who she collaborated with on 2002's Wonderful World duets album, has said, "She's the best singer of her generation."
k.d. lang has worked with numerous musical luminaries including: Roy Orbison, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John and Loretta Lynn. She has won four Grammy awards, eight Juno Awards, a BRIT, an AMA, a VMA and four awards from GLAAD. Her single, "Hallelujah Vancouver Winter 2010," an interpretation of the Leonard Cohen classic that lang recorded live at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics, was recently nominated for a Juno Award for Single of the Year. In 1996, she received Canada's highest civilian honor, the Order of Canada.
