BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo will inaugurate Satish K. Tripathi, PhD, as its 15th president tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 23) at a formal and colorful investiture ceremony.
Special guests will include State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden and SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, who will invest Tripathi in his new office, presenting him with UB's silver presidential medallion.
At the event, Tripathi will discuss his vision for the university and UB's role in addressing local and global challenges. Tripathi's investiture is part of Inauguration Week, a university-wide celebration, Sept. 19-24, which honors UB's proud past while celebrating its extraordinary present and potential for the future.
When: 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23.

Tripathi, who served as UB's provost and executive vice president for academic affairs from 2004-11, was one of the principal creators of the UB 2020 strategic plan to achieve academic and research excellence. He has led the university to achieve significant growth in research and scholarly activity, enhanced student quality and diversity, and an expanded international presence.
He was appointed as the 15th president of UB on April 18, 2011.
