BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Lois and Michael Cropp, MD, and Sharon and Mark Hamister -- all longtime University at Buffalo supporters -- will serve as co-chairs for the seventh annual UB Scholarship Gala. The event will take place from 6-11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, in the Edward Wright Practice Facility on the UB North Campus. Independent Health and Verizon are the presenting sponsors for this year's event.
Cropp, president and CEO of Independent Health, is a UB Foundation board trustee. Hamister, chair and CEO of The Hamister Group, is a UB Foundation board director.
Attracting the best and brightest students is one of the goals of UB 2020, the university's strategic plan to become a model 21st-century public university. Scholarships are one of the most effective ways to guarantee that top students choose UB.
To date, UB has raised more than $1 million in scholarship funds through six gala events. Donor support -- by corporations, foundations and individuals -- helps to ensure that every promising student has the opportunity to pursue a first-rate education at UB.
This year's event will include dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and student performances. Tickets are $200 per person and tables are $1,500, with sponsorships still available. For more information, tickets or sponsorships, call 716-881-1708 or visit http://www.giving.buffalo.edu/ubgala.
