BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Back to Buffalo 4: UB Alumni Dance Concert on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus. The performance is sponsored in part by the UB Alumni Association.
Featuring an eclectic group of dancers, the Back to Buffalo 4: UB Alumni Dance Concert, now in its fourth year, is dedicated to celebrating accomplished UB Department of Theatre and Dance alumni. With a variety of styles and backgrounds, the UB alumni will present solo works in a creative and powerful night of dance. The evening will also feature lighting designs by UB Department of Theatre and Dance alumni and a special performance, courtesy of LehrerDance, from current students in the Zodiaque Dance Company.
Among the established UB alumni is Michael Peter Deeb, a Buffalo native who graduated cum laude with a BFA in dance and went on to recently perform in the Broadway National Tour of Young Frankenstein. Michael has many ties to the Buffalo dance scene through experiences at Buffalo's Theatre of Youth and Buffalo Contemporary Dance Company, among others.
Other performers of the evening include: Amy VanKirk (Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines), Nicole Calabrese (Spirit Productions), Claire Jacob-Zysman (Ellen Sinopoli Dance), Gina Pero (Radio City Rockettes), Sara Senecal (Ellen Sinopoli Dance), Katie Heintz (Houston Metropolitan Dance Company) and Sarah Jean Kaye (Celebrity Cruise Lines).
All proceeds from the performance will benefit the spring 2012 dance residency at the Center for the Arts. The Dance Residency Outreach Program helps bring professional dance companies into area schools and affords UB dance majors the opportunity to take part in master classes with professional artists.
Master classes will also be available on Sunday, Sept. 23. Visit http://www.ubcfa.org for registration details.
