BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine is gearing up for its second annual Run for Smiles 5K race. Last year’s inaugural race helped raise thousands to benefit outreach programs at the dental school.

WHEN: Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m.

WHERE: UB’s South Campus—the run begins and ends in front of the Health Sciences Library.

WHY: Run for Smiles serves to raise awareness to members of the Western New York community about making UB their dental home. Funds raised by the race will go to UB CARES (Counseling, Advocacy, Referral, Education, Service), a program at the dental school that works to break down barriers to patient dental care.

The run will also benefit BOCA (Buffalo Outreach and Community Assistance), a student-run group that provides free dental treatment in many locations throughout the world.

Tents with food, beverages and live music will be available for a post-race celebration in the Squire Quad facing the finish line. There will also be awards and trophies for top finishers in their divisions.

REGISTRATION: Registration on April 19 and April 20 will cost $25. Race T-shirts will go to the first 500 applicants. Packet pick-up and in-person registration will be available on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and before the race on April 20.
