Media Advisory: Scholars to gather in Niagara Falls to discuss computer security

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Information privacy in the health care environment, how eye tracking and memory explain susceptibility to phishing scams, mobile information privacy and the motivation of hackers are just a few of the topics to be covered at an upcoming conference hosted by the University at Buffalo School of Management.

Scholars from around the world will gather at the 2013 Dewald Roode Workshop on Information Systems Security Research Oct. 4-5 at The Conference and Event Center in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

The workshop is the flagship event of the IFIP WG8.11/11.13, the International Federation for Information Processing, aimed at advancing the research discipline of information systems security through the creation, dissemination and preservation of well-formed research. It is held annually in locations around the globe. The inaugural event was held in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2009.

From the UB School of Management, H. Raghav Rao, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor and vice chair of IFIP 8.11, will serve as general chair of the event and Raj Sharman, associate professor of management science systems, will serve as local events chair.
