UB to hold Veterans Day Celebration

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo will honor its veteran and military service members at the university’s fifth annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11 on the North Campus.

The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. with a flag ceremony at Coventry Plaza, in front of Alumni Arena, featuring the UB Police and ROTC color guards, and the Thunder of the East Marching Band. The ringing of the commemorative bell will take place at 11:11 a.m.

After an invocation by Fr. Mike Zuffoletto, Navy chaplain (retired), participants will move to the Center for the Arts atrium for refreshments and remarks. Dennis Black, vice president for university life and services, will welcome participants; he will be followed by UB Police Chief Gerald Schoenle, UB student Jacob Silver and Col. Kevin Rogers, inspector general of the 107th Airlift Wing at the Niagara Falls Air Base, each of whom will reflect on what it means to be a veteran.

Robert Gilbert, principal sponsor of the UB Veterans Student Scholarship, will close the program.

This event is free and open to the public.
