BUFFALO, N.Y. – Political satirist John Oliver, host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” will speak at UB at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Alumni Arena as part of the University at Buffalo’s Distinguished Speakers Series.

Oliver’s appearance, originally scheduled for Nov. 18, was postponed because of last month’s lake effect snow storm.

Oliver first came to prominence as a cutting-edge, political standup in the UK, with a string of television appearances and sold-out solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival. He moved to the U.S. in 2006 to work on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” as a correspondent and later became a guest host.

He is this year’s Undergraduate Student Choice Speaker. Oliver is expected to begin his program at approximately 8:10 p.m.

During the program, audio and/or video photography, as well as still photography, will be limited to the first five minutes of his lecture.

Working media may reserve tickets for the program by contacting Christine Vidal in the UB Office of Communications at 645-4607 or vidal@buffalo.edu no later than noon on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Reserved tickets may be picked up at the will-call window in Alumni Arena prior to the program. Media may need to show press credentials in order to be admitted to the program.
