Additional information:

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program founded by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to encourage kids to eat healthy and be physically active for 60 minutes each day. It sponsors many health-related events for school children throughout the country.

Tuesday’s participants will be 107 kids and 56 adults from seven WNY school districts. They all will be assigned in groups to each of the UB students, who will take them through four specially designed food stations – each dedicated to a specific food group – where they will be taught how to make selections of foods that nurture and fuel the body, maintain energy and support a healthy weight.  The kids also will receive T-shirts, and nutrition and exercise lessons from some of the Bills themselves.

The UB students’ involvement in the program is part of their graduate internship in dietetics. School districts involved include Buffalo, Grand Island, Niagara Falls, Orchard Park, West Seneca, Rochester and Henrietta.
