BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo students, faculty and administrators will gather on Thursday, April 16 to recognize student scholarly, research and creative achievements at the 11th annual Celebration of Student Academic Excellence in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus.
“The celebration is a wonderful opportunity to showcase and recognize the outstanding contributions that UB students make across the disciplines,” said Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Mara Huber. “Our award winners are excellent examples of how students can weave together academics and experiential learning to achieve success, distinction and community impact.”
The celebration will open with poster presentations from graduate and undergraduate students who will describe the results of their research projects.
The celebration ceremony will be hosted by UB President Satish K. Tripathi and Dean of Undergraduate Education Andrew M. Stott in the Mainstage Theatre.
Schedule of Events:
The event will also present a video on the design of the GRoW Home, UB’s entry in the U.S. Department of Energy 2015 Solar Decathlon. Standing for “Garden, Relax or Work,” the GRoW Home will embrace the urban farming culture of Buffalo, as well as its seasonal weather.
Since UB began pursuing the Department of Energy competition in 2012, the highly collaborative effort has involved 13 UB academic departments, nearly 150 students and dozens of faculty members. Students are also working closely with several local businesses in the design, building and solar energy fields.
