In 1943, Charlotte Delbo and 229 of her peers in the French Resistance against Nazi Germany were taken to Auschwitz. Only 49 would leave alive. Who Will Carry The Word? is Delbo's plea to the world to never forget the stories of those who did not live to tell them. Based on her real experiences, the play follows 12 women as they struggle to find the will to survive when faced with hellish and unimaginable circumstances. Who will be the one to defy all odds, to survive, and carry the word of what happened to these women back to the unknowing world?
The UB Department of Theatre & Dance 2015-16 season takes inspiration from one of the five named UB 2020 themes, Justice.
