Buffalo, NY- The University at Buffalo Theatre & Dance Department will present Zodiaque Dance Ensemble from April 1-3, 2016. Performance times are: Friday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Saturday-Sunday at 2:00pm. All performances will be held in the Black Box Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. Tickets are $20, Students (any school) & Seniors $10.
Zodiaque Dance Ensemble, directed by Kerry Ring and Anne Burnidge, is one of UB’s resident student dance companies. ZDE ’16 showcases the diversity of guest artists, faculty choreography, and mentored student works. Two UB Dance Faculty, Ariel Nereson and Kerry Ring will accompany guest choreography by Brooklyn based artist Jenny Golonka and UB Dance Alum Katie Hientz. In addition, four-advanced choreography students, Sarah Dodd, Angel Mammoliti, Julie Mondrick, and Michaela Neild will be presenting new works.
The company, consisting of 23 undergraduate dance majors, will spring into action as they embody a spectrum of current dance styles, ranging from jazz to contemporary modern. Veil, choreographed by Kerry Ring, is set to David Popper’s Requiem and will be performed by UB pianist Jiheng Tang, UB cellists Lisa Gagnon, Chang Park, and Conor Sullivan. Other works take inspiration from poetry, urban anxiety, inner strength, and humanistic explorations of relationships.
The UB Department of Theatre & Dance 2015-16 season takes inspiration from one of the five named UB 2020 themes, Justice.
