UB to celebrate summer with 10th season of UB on the Green

BUFFALO, N.Y. – UB on the Green, the University at Buffalo’s free outdoor performance series, is back for a 10th season to celebrate summer in the South Campus neighborhood.

The family-friendly, alcohol-free events, presented by the UB Office of Community Relations, will take place Wednesdays July 20, July 27 and Aug. 3 from 6-8 p.m. on the Hayes Hall lawn on the South Campus. Free parking is available in the NFTA Park and Ride and Townsend lots. Spectators are encouraged to bring a picnic meal, lawn chairs and blankets. Light refreshments will be available for sale.

“It’s great to have UB on the Green back for another year,” said Tess Morrissey, UB director of community relations. “Each year the series provides fun opportunities to bring the campus and community together.”

In addition to musical performances, the series will focus each night’s events around a specific theme designed to welcome neighbors to the university and introduce them to different aspects of UB.

  • Unity in the Community & Care Fair Night
    July 20, Hayes Hall lawn, South Campus
    The series will open with Unity in the Community & Care Fair Night, an evening dedicated to health, wellness and community. Free health screenings and health and wellness information will be offered, along with fun activities. Back by popular demand, the Kenny Hawkins All Star Band will perform.
  • Arts & Culture Night
    July 27, Hayes Hall lawn, South Campus
    Arts & Culture Night is a chance for the community to show off its artistic skills through interactive arts and crafts stations, while listening to the music of the Buffalo Afrobeat Orchestra.
  • Veterans & Athletics Night
    Aug. 3, Hayes Hall lawn, South Campus
    The series will end with Veterans & Athletics Night, where participants can learn about local resources available through UB’s Office of Veteran Services, get ready for the fall sports season by meeting members of the UB Bulls teams and enjoy the classic sounds of the American Legion Band of the Tonawandas.
