BUFFALO, N.Y. – Students, faculty and staff from the University at Buffalo will join forces with community members who live around the UB South and Downtown campuses to make their neighborhoods a bit brighter as part of UB Community Day, to be held from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.
It’s a chance for the university community to give back to the city it loves and to demonstrate UB’s commitment to the neighborhoods around its campuses.
The UB Office of Community Relations holds UB Community Day twice each year to help clean up neighborhoods and assist local agencies with painting or other projects, benefitting the community, fostering better relationships with residents and showing students the value of getting involved in neighborhood projects.
UB volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Allen Hall on the UB South Campus before heading out to a number of locations near the South and Downtown campuses to work with community residents on a variety of community improvement and neighborhood beautification projects.
Best time and location for media: 10-11 a.m. at the corner of Minnesota and Cordova avenues, near Main Street, where roughly 40 UB students will be working with members of the Minnesota Block Club to rake, weed and clean up center medians on the street.
Press arrangements, on site: Tess Morrissey, director of community relations, at 716-572-1996.
Christine Vidal has retired from University Communications. To contact UB's media relations staff, call 716-645-6969 or visit our list of current university media contacts. Sorry for the inconvenience.
