UB’s John H. Campbell inducted into American College of Surgeons

BUFFALO, N.Y. – John H. Campbell, DDS, associate professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, has been named a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

To gain admission as an ACS fellow, surgeons are rigorously evaluated on their education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence and ethical conduct. Campbell is among 1,823 inductees chosen from around the world and one of 52 non-MD oral surgeons chosen for admission.

Campbell specializes in trauma, surgery of the temporomandibular joint, dental implant site preparation and surgery, and surgery for pathology and facial reconstruction.

He has received funding for 18 research projects since 1990, and has twice been the recipient of the prestigious Research Support Grant from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation. Campbell is currently the president of the Western New York Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

He is also an ad hoc reviewer for several professional journals, including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and serves as a site visitor of oral and maxillofacial surgery programs for the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.

Campbell received his doctor of dental surgery degree and master’s degree in natural science from UB, and a bachelor’s degree in pure science from Le Moyne College.
