BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo will hold a full-scale, emergency training exercise from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, in and around Clark Hall on the UB South Campus.
The UB Emergency Management department, in collaboration with local, state and federal emergency responders, will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise designed to ensure coordinated, timely and effective response and recovery in the event of a campus crisis.
There will be significant law enforcement, fire and emergency service present at this time. In order to avoid any confusion, the public is being notified ahead of time.
The crisis simulation will focus on response from the UB Incident Management team; University Police; Environment, Health and Safety; Student Life; University Communications; and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The scenario will also involve the UB Alert system and involve command-level interaction with external law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
The outside agencies participating in the exercise will include Kaleida Health, Buffalo Fire and Police departments, Erie County Emergency Services, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Amherst Emergency Services, Erie County Department of Health, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), State University of New York (SUNY) Administration and New York State agencies.
Because of the sensitive nature of the activities, media presence will not be permitted during this emergency training exercise.
The exercise is also closed to the campus community and the general public.
